retrospection is everything.

Selassie Publishing began with the goal of sharing pieces from my collection of thoughts and stories untold. After bringing the idea to my three daughters, discussions surrounding the impact a community of diaspora could bring to our country and the continent of Africa as a whole emerged if only we could begin to open up our ears, minds, and ultimately- our hearts.

What if we created a place to document some of these stories? What if we published books to help inspire young school kids? What if through remembrance we’re able to work towards healing from many of the conflicts of our own childhoods? The picture began to look more and more clear.

This platform is a space to open up about our experiences as diaspora, immigrants, and habesha people as a whole. To read and listen to the wisdom of others. We hope you find meaning, connection, and maybe even healing through the pieces we produce. Please do enjoy the content and contribute if you’d like; we’re always open ears.
